What a phenomenal chance for the uninitiated to get schooled in a hurry.
A crashcourse in rocknroll.
It is also a good spot for those who think they know it all to show up casually pretending to be dropping by just to say hello. Heaven knows we have a few with nothing left to learn.
Just ask...they'll be happy to tell.
In any event, The City's only accredited RocknRoll University holds it's first summer sessions on Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th..... Joe Mazzari authenticates from the stage.
First session of the semester...
The Bowery Poetry Club on the June 27th, with a great line-up including:
- the current buzz-talk-of-town THE POSTELLES;
- two great upandcoming Baltimore bands, PASADENA and THE GRILLED LINCOLNS.
- Next up with their brand new release in hand, New York City's best known very own, HELLO TOKYO;
- plus 2006 MEANYFEST winners, hailing from Commack, CODE ANCHOR...
- And, as if that's not enough, 7 MORNINGS and
- FAMILY LUMBER round things out... and then...
- it's time for the kiddies to go to class...(b/t/w..this is an all ages show)
Joe Mazzari rolls around midnite.
This trip...with TWO SAINTS from Boston.
The very next day, class resumes at Arlene's Grocery, with another enlightening curriculum. Imagine....being entertained while in school. If my teachers had thought of that, maybe I would have furthered my edumacation. Hey, who gives a shit. The most dangerous thing in the world is a college degree. (No offense intended to the erudite among us.) Anyhow, a man with a grievance does digress.
Back to the ass-kicking lined-up for Arlene's Grocery on June 28th.
- Industry showcase for Rob Dova's EARSHOT
- followed by SOLAMAN SILBER;
- then, Hoboken New Jersey rockers FIGHTING OVER SHOTGUN;
- next it's time to blast into the next Galaxy with FUTURE IN PLASTICS
(whatever you do.... don't miss this band)
- The re-tooling of DeVola gives us Elizabeth's new project SPELLING & GRAMMAR....(like I said, it's time for school).
- DIET KONG is next - followed by... you guessed it...
- Joe Mazzari's TWO SAINTS.
- We close the show with a bunch of young guys who've been with us since they were all freshman in college, and they graduate this year -
NOBODY CAN DANCE.
Come prepared to take notes.....exams follow the fun.
